The remit of the Research Committee is as follows:
- Provide guidance relating to matters of research directly to the CSVS Executive Committee.
- Actively support CSVS members (AVS and trainee) in participating and leading vascular disease related research that is of high quality, uses appropriate methods and is likely to produce good results
- Support members in the proposals and application for large grants/fellowships
- Provide research advice and guidance for members via the CSVS website and newsletter
- Improve and maintain the CSVS research grant program; review grant applications and provide funding recommendations to the CSVS Executive committee
- Develop and facilitate research collaborations with external bodies (e.g. Vascular Society, Vascular and Endovascular Research Network etc.) on behalf of the SVT membership
- In collaboration with key stakeholders, we aim to develop consensus on research priorities
The CSVS is a NIHR Non-commercial Partner
In recognition of our robust application and peer review process for CSVS Research/Innovation grants we have become an NIHR non-commercial partner. These are because the CSVS:
- Award research funds as a result of open competition across England with high quality peer review
- Fund research that is of clear value to the NHS
- Take appropriate account of the priorities, needs and realities of the NHS in making decisions about the research that they fund.
This gives access to the NIHR CRN NHS infrastructure, training and study support service. https://www.nihr.ac.uk/funding-and-support/study-support-service/Information-for-research-funders.htm
