FCVS policy

15th Aug 2024

Dear Members,

The society voted to approve a working name that will become the publicly facing and working name of the society at the November 2023 AGM. This was strategically aimed to modernise the society to better reflect the profession. The College and Society for Clinical Vascular Science of Great Britain and Ireland, or CSVS for short, was approved by the Charity Commission in December 2023. In line with that modernisation the Executive committee has decided to overhaul the membership number system for improved security and in doing so elected to introduce a membership and fellowship category.

The Executive Committee have also taken the position that Accredited Vascular Scientists (AVS), in having passed their practical exam and joined the AVS register, would thus be entitled to call themselves a Fellow of the aforementioned College. All other members, including those who have graduated the STP programme but not passed AVS, would be required to be members of the College, unless they have been awarded Honorary Fellowship by the Society.

The FCVS policy stipulates how these can be used and what would happen if they are misused.

The membership team are currently updating everyone's locker/account to reflect the new membership numbers. In due course you will be emailed when complete so you can log in and make a note of the new number.

We politely request that you take the time to read the new policy. This can be viewed in the professional issues page under service management. Alternatively please click here to view it directly.

Kind Regards,

The Executive Committee.
