Job Description

We are looking to recruit one full time (1.0 WTE or part-time pro rata) experienced Clinical Vascular Scientist or Vascular Sonographer to join our friendly and enthusiastic team of 5 Clinical Vascular Scientists, Healthcare Support Worker and admin administrator in the Vascular Laboratory, Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh. 

Experienced applicants must hold a degree in a relevant subject (science/healthcare based) and be fully qualified as an Accredited Clinical Vascular Scientist (AVS) through the SVT or hold a relevant Postgraduate qualification in vascular ultrasound. Submissions from applicants nearing the end of their postgraduate studies will be considered. 

The Vascular Laboratory provides a specialist diagnostic vascular ultrasound imaging service including carotid and vertebral assessment, peripheral upper and lower limb arterial and venous assessment, graft surveillance, aortic aneurysm surveillance, fistula assessment and treadmill testing. 

The Vascular Laboratory team work closely with seven Vascular Consultants, Consultant Radiologists, Vascular Access Nurse Specialists and Vascular Nurse Specialists as part of a multidisciplinary team in the Department of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery. 

The Vascular Laboratory is spacious, with air-conditioned rooms and it is well equipped with a Siemens Helix, Siemens Sequoia and Siemens Juniper Ultrasound Scanners and a portable GE Vivid IQ and portable GE Logiq Es.  We use an electronic reporting system and are connected to PACS. 

The Vascular Laboratory acknowledges the recommendations of the SVT/CSVS and SoR and allocates protected non - scanning time to undertake quality improvement projects/work.   

NHS Scotland recently reduced the working week from 37.5 hours to 37 hours, without changes to pay. This will be further reduced to 36 hours over the next two years.  

Applicants interested in part-time hours will be considered.
